VoIP hardware is developing fast - this is where you ask all those “how do I make my SIP Telephone, Adapter or Asterisk box work with my voip provider?” questions.

I've just received a OBi110-UK and updated to this config - works fantastically!

I do have one question - I seem to have a noticable delay between the dialling completing and any call being received. I've tried updating some settings and through trial and error the best I can get down to is 10 seconds:

* Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port
* RingDelay -> 400
* DialDelay -> 325
* DialDigitOnTime -> 100
* DialDigitOffTime -> 75

Has anybody else experienced this delay and are their any solutions?

Is the delay present when placing both sip calls and calls placed over the POTS line?

Basically what I think is happening is when you're dialling a number it does not appear to match any Dial Plan strings in your Digit Map so it's waiting the 10 seconds before placing the call. Is it doing it on all numbers you dial? What happens when you press # after entering the number, does it dial out immediately?

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> DigitMap is the parameter that you need to modify. I'm sure it should look like this:
Code: Select all
(999|112|101|111|116000|116111|116123|1471|1571|0[15]xxxxxxxxx?|0[27]x xxxx xxxx|0800xxx xxxx?|0808xxx xxxx|08001111|08[47]x xxx xxxx|0845464x|03xx xxx xxxx|118xxx|100|155|195|09xx xxx xxxx|[2-8]xxxx.|9[0-8]xxx.|99[^9]xx.|00xxx.|xx.)
Is that what you have showing on your device?

WelshPaul knows more about the obihai stuff than me - should be around shortly. :thumbsup:

I just uploaded the 'OBI110 UK XML CONFIGURATION FILE' to an OBi110 and it works just fine for me. Outbound calls connect within no more than 4 seconds which is normal behaviour. Try doing a factory reset and re-upload the OBI110 UK XML file again - Don't make any changes this time and pick up the receiver and make a call to a UK mobile number or landline.

Or is the delay you talk of regarding incoming calls? (e.g. 10 seconds before your telephone actually rings once someone dials your number)

Post back if you're still having issues.

Did a factory reset, restored the OBi110 UK XML from viewtopic.php?f=25&t=368 and rebooted.

Unfortunately the delay is now back up to around 12 seconds.

I'm dialling my mobile beginning 07867. I'm not sure how that maps to:
Code: Select all
(999|112|101|111|116000|116111|116123|1471|1571|0[15]xxxxxxxxx?|0[27]x xxxx xxxx|0800xxx xxxx?|0808xxx xxxx|08001111|08[47]x xxx xxxx|0845464x|03xx xxx xxxx|118xxx|100|155|195|09xx xxx xxxx|[2-8]xxxx.|9[0-8]xxx.|99[^9]xx.|00xxx.|xx.)
Although I'm a software developer and relatively happy with regexp I'm very much a n00b at this.

0[27]x xxxx xxxx is the string that matches a UK mobile number.

If you press # after entering the last digit of your mobile number does that improve things?

Is the call going out over your POTS line or via SIP?

Is it just mobile numbers you're having this issue with?

For the record, when calling a mobile number from your OBi110 it usually takes around 6-8 seconds or so before the mobile starts to ring - This is normal behaviour. I just rang my mobile from my OBi1032 & OBi202 and it took 9 seconds before my mobile rang and 8-9 seconds when calling from my Snom 870.

If your calling over your POTS line via the OBi110 this may add a second or two but I can't confirm this as I am 100% VoIP so no access to any PSTN line to test.

By default the OBi waits a minimum of 2 seconds before dialling any numbers after matching it to a digit map, you could add S0 after 0[27]x xxxx xxxx in the dialplan so it looks like this 0[27]x xxxx xxxxS0 - Doing so will reduce the time it takes to ring out by 2 seconds. Calls now ring through in 6 seconds for me when calling mobiles doing this where before it was taking 9 seconds.

Ah, so it's an optional match. Gotcha.

I don't think that improved things. If I enter the full number followed by # and then press ring sometimes I just get a click and a long tone. Other times it rings about 8 - 10 seconds. I had it down to 8 with messing with the settings in my first post.

POTS

Good question. I can only test calling a mobile right now. I'll try this out later.

This doesn't seem to make much difference to the time it takes for the mobile to ring from the landline. Taking a look at the logs I see:
Code: Select all
Call 1	12/10/2014    16:36:09
Terminal ID       PHONE1	LINE1
Peer Name
Peer Number     x	x
Direction	       Outbound	Outbound
16:36:09	       New Call
16:36:14	       Call Connected
16:36:25	       End Call

Call 2	12/10/2014    16:31:15
Terminal ID       PHONE1	LINE1
Peer Name
Peer Number      x	x
Direction	        Outbound	Outbound
16:31:15	        New Call
16:31:20		Call Connected
16:31:28	        End Call
It seems the OBi thinks it's connecting in 5 seconds to connect the call in both cases. The call at 16:36:09 is the one with the S0 added to the rule. So, this looks like the delay is happening before it tries to make a new call.

I'll do some further testing and report back. Including - the obvious one - double-checking to see how long it takes to call without the OBi in the setup at all ;)

My OBi202 Call History...

Number of calls in history: 2

Call 1 12/10/2014 17:07:39
17:07:39 From PH1 To SP1(07949******)
17:07:45 Ringing
17:07:47 Call Ended

Call 2 12/10/2014 17:06:46
17:06:46 From PH1 To SP1(07949******)
17:06:53 Ringing
17:06:55 Call Ended

Call made at 17:07:39 was with the S0 (S for sierra and 0 as in zero) and I terminated the calls a second or two after my mobile began to ring. My logs match what both my dect phone and mobile were doing at the time.

I am making calls via Voipfone, mobiles always take longer to connect than landlines as there is extra hops in the route. Best you can expect to get is 6 seconds, not sure why # or S0 isn't working for you though.
