Create a file named SEP001956A3C492.cnf.xml and place the following code inside:
Code: Select all

Should be able to get it going by using the following files:

Dialplan File
This is a really simple one but dose the job. In the C:\provisioning directory of the TFTP server directory, create a a file called dialplan.xml that contains:
Code: Select all
<DIALTEMPLATE>
    <TEMPLATE MATCH="*" Timeout="5"/>
</DIALTEMPLATE>
SIP Configuration File
The 7970/7971 SIP image reads a configuration file that is an XML file, as opposed to the 7960/7940 SIP configuration file that is a text file. Edit your SEP001956A3C492.cnf.xml file, clear it's current contents and place the following inside it:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<device>
<deviceProtocol>SIP</deviceProtocol>

<sshPassword>cisco</sshPassword>

Change to the XML tags that have a CHANGEME comment before them to personalise the config. Reboot the phone and it should hopefully read this configuration file and register.

Sorry misread what you wrote. I understand now. But I'm not sure what the settings for the CHANGEME that I need to change to.
These would be custom settings unique to you and the VoIP provider you are using...

Example 1:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <name>FIRSTntpServer</name>
The above wants you to enter a NTP server of your choosing. As i'm in the UK, I always use ntp.voipfone.net. So I would change it to:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <name>ntp.voipfone.net</name>
Example 2:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <name>SECONDntpServer</name>
The above wants you to enter a second NTP server of your choosing. Again, i'm in the UK, so I will use uk.pool.ntp.org:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <name>uk.pool.ntp.org</name>
Example 3:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <processNodeName>sip.proxy.name.or.ip</processNodeName>
The above wants you to enter your sip server proxy address or IP:
Code: Select all
<!-- CHANGEME -->
                 <processNodeName>sip.voipcheap.co.uk</processNodeName>
etc...

Going to be a lot of trial and error unfortunately:
Unfortunately Cisco have NOT released a detailed breakdown of the workings of the 7970 configuration (SEP<mac>.cnf.xml) file. This is because Cisco now generates the SEP files from within Call Manager (CCM). As a rule Cisco now tell configurators how to make configuration changes from with the CCM application (which then generates the SEP<mac>.cnf.xml). Because of this it's more difficult to 'hand craft' the config files - If anyone has an annotated SEP<mac>.cnf.xml file they could post it would be very useful.
Try this config:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<device>
    <deviceProtocol>SIP</deviceProtocol>
    <sshUserId>admin</sshUserId>
    <sshPassword>cisco</sshPassword>

            <timeZone>GMT Standard/Daylight Time</timeZone>
            <ntps>
                <ntp>

                    <ntpMode>Unicast</ntpMode>
                </ntp>
