Is it possible that a long cable that is used in a broadband connection can adversely affect the speed of Internet. By shortening the cable can we have any visible improvement in net speed?

In my friend's place long cables have been used for his broadband connection and he experiences slow net connection most of the times. May be the length matters in Internet speed.

Hi there talk2me I am surprised no one replied to your post. It depends on the "cable" and how long it is. In most cases if you cannot place the Router close to a Master Socket (like this: http://www.bristolcommunicationsonline. ... h_NTE5.png then the better option if you/friend feels able to is to get a Data extension kit (like this: http://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/images/N ... ension.JPG) and run it from the Master Socket to where you wish to use the Router. I believe the max length is 30m.

I hope this helps.
